ABOUT US

The conference is designed for students, academics, and professionals interested in learning more about the field of sport, exercise, and performance psychology. The conference program consists of keynote speakers, abstract presentations, a pre-conference workshop and a number of other featured presentations.

Audience

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

We are seeking abstract proposals for a variety of different presentations that should be no more than 500 words in length. If interested in submitting an abstract, please click on the button below and follow the instructions on the following page.

NEW DEADLINE: MARCH 6TH, 2019

Types of Presentations

Lecture: 12 minute presentation with 3 minutes of questions

Poster: 90 minute period for presenting research

Symposium: 3, 15 minute presentations around a shared topic

Applied Workshops: 20 minute demonstration of an applied service delivery topic of choice

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

April 12, 2019 from 10 am - 12 pm

Workshop will focus on branding and marketing ourselves. Topics of the workshop include writing a letter of introduction, creating and perfecting an elevator speech, writing and the importance of thank you cards, networking, creating business cards, and more!

Workshop Leader

As a coach for the past 17 years, Candice Chick has devoted her life to helping others reach their full potential. Having successfully battled both cancer and dyslexia, she knows how to overcome the most daunting of challenges with a relentless drive and mindset that’s always looking to the future.


Candice fostered her passion for others while growing up in Southern California, before going on to compete on an elite NCAA Division I Water Polo team. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, she earned a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Counseling, and Sports Management.  


Now a widely respected coach and mother, Candice continues to speak openly about the life obstacles that have allowed her to develop an unparalleled strength, courage, and gratitude. Her infectious, motivating spirit inspires all around her to discover their true selves and stand out as their own authentic brand.

JAKE PACHECO

Jacob Pacheco is an inspiring adaptive athlete who truly lives by the “yes I can” attitude. Born with the physical disability: Cerebral- Palsy, Jacob turned disability into possibility through perseverance and taking action. Jacob showed great courage through intensive medical surgery as a child; losing as well as regaining his walking ability in 12 months, and post-operation competed in 6 sports. Concurrent with active participation in sport Jacob graduated post-secondary education with accredited degrees: a Bachelor’s and Master’s from Fresno and Long Beach State. Recognized by his peers and colleagues for his inspiring determination, intellect and positive attitude as an athlete and student, Jacob decided to spread his message: “Keep charging for your dreams and goals” through creative world of social media.

Awards:
• Currently ranked #2 in the USA as an adaptive prone surfer, 2x runner up (2017, 2018)
• Jay Liesner Award recipient for most inspirational surfer at US Adaptive Open in 2018
• 2nd place finish in 2017 US Adaptive Open
• 2017 Western Surfing Association West Coast Champion
• 6x 1st place finish in Western Surfing Association Surf Contests
• Selected as top graduate student from Health and Human Services College at CSU Long
Beach during 2017 graduation, 1 of 7 top students.
• 1st place finish in 2012 desert challenge Track and Field games: 100m T35 event
